Introduction
As we are all aware , the current financial situation in our country , the problems we are facing with the supply of electricity across the country, as well as the budget deficit due to the devaluation of the Lebanese Lira and the scarcity of the USD, made it very difficult for UL to run normally and service its students and the academic staff properly especially when it comes to providing the necessary electricity supply to carry out the normal academic tasks since we have now to buy the Diesel for our generators by fresh USD.
Facing this challenge, we cannot stand still without taking any action to help alleviating this situation, for this reason the Amicale ULFG2, to overcome this challenge, is looking at building a solar grid, to provide the necessary power requirement to run our university.
Project description
The campus is divided into several buildings, three of them (A, B and D) have clear roof with full south orientation.
The estimated power for normal use in the campus is around 350 KVA and the minimum is 25 KVA in each building.
In order to make the project affordable and modular, the project will be divided into 10 modules of 25 KVA each for a toatla of 250 KVA. It will start by installing one module in each building in the following order:
- The administration building (Block A) : 3 Modules
- Courses building (Block D) : 4 Modules
- Labs building (Block B). : 3 Modules
The cycle will restart until reaching the full required capacity.
Funding The Project:
AULFG2 will launch a tender for this project once the funds for the first module are in hand
The approximate cost for each module is between 25000 and 40000 depending from the design and brands used
We are now about 4000 graduates from the ULFG2
If each graduate can donate 100 USD , we can cover by ourselves the whole project of 250 KVA and not only the first module
